Question by lostmindedv: A bar of gold measures 4.5cm by 6.5cm by 1.6dm. Calculate the mass of the gold bar in kilograms. ?
The density of gold is 19.3 g/cm3. (cubed)

Best answer:

Answer by climberguy12
first convert dm to cm by multiplying by 10. so its 4.5x6.5x16. all in cm.

to get volume, just multiply them all together.

turns out to be 468 cm^3

d=m/v

19.3=m/468
m=9032.4 grams
m=9.0324 kilograms

make it a good day

  1. Blue Sky says:

    4.5(6.5)(16) = 468 cm^3

    19.3 g/cm^3 (468 cm^3) = 9032.4 g = 9.0324 kilograms

    lostmind.. here it is

    1.6 dm = 16 cm
    Volume = 4.5 cm x 6.5 cm x 16 cm
    Volume = 468 cu cm

    1000 g = kg

    Mass = dinsity x Volume
    Mass = 19.3 g/cm³ x 1kg/1000g x 468 cu cm
    =================================
    Ans::Mass = 9.0324 kgs

    hope this helps
